It may have been Mothers’ Day in the Dominican Republic, France, Poland and Sweden, but those celebrations caused little disruption to the scintillating fourth round of AATBL Season 2024. Yes, the tossers gathered in Rowe Park in Claremont on 26 May 2024 to practise the ancient art of all-terrain bocce encore une fois. Of course, our thoughts were with families in the Dominican Republic, France, Poland and Sweden, as those families paid tribute to their loving mums.
The day went very well for Pizza Express (HRH Prince Andrew II and SuperMario, unaccompanied by Buzz Lightbeer). Go Flat Out forfeited two games, as Reg was having another piercing done (belly button this time), while Gonad was again attending his Klingon-speakers’ support group. Not only did Pizza Express take home the 7-0 points bonus from GFO forfeiting their game, PE also clobbered Sultans of Swing (Stella playing without Serge), 8-1.
Stella also came second in the Sultans’ other game, going down 1-7 to Motherchucker.
Stormballs also accrued a 7-0 victory from a GFO forfeit, causing Cannonball to run about waving his arms in the air, hooting wildly, before repeatedly performing a “lawnmower” celebration. One assumes the lawnmower was reluctant to start.
Unlike said lawnmower, the Stormballs’ game against Banker could have done with a little less choke, as they spluttered and petered out, losing 1-7.
In contrast, Banker’s battle with Killer B’s was hard-fought and entertaining, and the Banker eventually took home the premiership points, winning 7-6, giving him victories in both his games on the day.
The Killer B’s won their other game, prevailing 7-5 over Rawalpindi Express.
