The stress takes its toll on Reg

Reg listens politely while RE explains why ARSE is a crack all-terrain bocce team

With Reg having the roles of fixture-fixer, president and Grand BOCCE in 2022, it’s hardly surprising that he might lose the plot once in a while. That’s exackertackerly what happened after round 2, when Reg slipped into a parallel universe and published an entirely fictitious set of results. Naturally, sports fans around the world were quick to spot the errors and Reg’s people lost no time in releasing the correct results and a grovelling apology. A press release from Reg’s medical team says that he will take medical leave and a well-earned rest for round 3.

Commencement of the day’s play was delayed for six minutes while RE disappeared to purchase a replacement cod. He claimed to have brought the requisite six cods to the fixture and to somehow have lost one “in a warm up”, whatever that means.

Perhaps RE’s warm up and his last-minute expedition helped to get some energy flowing for Australian Research & Space Exploration, as Buzz, Stormboy and RE finally managed to win a game, beating Urbane Gorillas 8-5. Urbane Gorillas won their other game, eclipsing SuperMario 7-2.

SuperMario also had a day of mixed fortunes, as his other game saw him prevail 8-5 against Motherchucker.

Continuing a win-loss theme, Mochu beat Fuchu (Brad, sans Stella and Gonad), 7-4, and Fuchu beat Barney in a nail-biting 7-6 tussle.

In Reg’s only game of the day, he beat Cairo (Cannonball and Digger without Prince Andrew II, as Handy Andy was attending a United Australia Party fundraiser), 8-2. Cannonball’s solo effort against Barney went quite a bit better, and he came a way with a comfortable 7-3 victory.
