The final round of season 2020 was played beside the Vietnam Memorial Pavilion in Kings Park on 20 September. Although one round had already been played there this season, that was an emergency change to the locus bocci that was made because the Bureau of Meteorology sold us the dummy, predicting sharknadoes that didn’t come close to eventuating. This round was scheduled to be played there from the outset. Happily, this round was also shark-free.
The Grim Reapers (Digger and Banker, but no Stormboy) took one win from two starts and thereby clinched the minor premiership over CWA. The Reapers beat the cellar-dwelling WTF (S&M without Stella) 7-5, but lost to TRIBG, 3-7.
SuperMario played an even closer game against Bad News, eventually losing 6-7 and holding on to last place with only the finals ahead.
Bad News won two from three, eclipsing Sunshine (Mochu without Buzz Lightbeer) 7-2, but taking a 0-7 pasting against CWA (Serge minus the Presidential Pineapple).
Motherchucker also had two wins from three starts, prevailing 7-6 over Shock and Awe (after a fighting comeback from a very close call) and a more comfortable 7-2 victory over TRIBG.
The highest score of the day was a nine-pointer from Shock and Awe in a 9-1 demolition of CWA.
The only change to the ladder after this round was that Bad News had climbed over TRIBG to third place on percentage. Sunshine, Bad News, TRIBG and WTF will be playing off to avoid the Asti. One of those four teams will make it to the championship round to play against Shock and Awe for a place in the preliminary final.
