CWA starts 2020 in good form

Serge is all smiles as The CWA beats WTF at Hyde Park in Round 1

Just a few months ago, Sir Justice Airwick PWC KPMG was a joint holder of the league’s wooden spoon, the Asti perpetual trophy for last place. However, after the first round of the 2020 season, Serge’s team, the CWA, is atop the ladder and making buoyant pronouncements about his team’s stocks. “Well, look, I mean, you know, it’s just one of those things. What can I say? I mean, you know, it’s like we just, I dunno, played good on the day and that,” he explained.

Serge (playing alone, because President Big Pineapple was delivering the keynote address at the Gallivanting Overseas Conference) won two from two, beating WTF 7-2 and Shock & Awe (Gonad sans Cannonball) 8-2.

By way of contrast, WTF did not do quite so well, also losing its only other game to Those Really Incredible Bocce Guys, 2-7.

Shock & Awe lost both of its other games, Gonad going down 4-7 to Grim Reapers (Banker and Stormboy without Digger) and 6-7 to Sunshine (Mochu minus Buzz Lightbeer). It bears pointing out that Gonad, a current Grand BOCCE, came away from round 1 with three losses from three starts. Funny game …

The news for Bad News was not all bad, as they won one from two, losing 4-7 to Sunshine (which won both of its games), but eclipsing TRIBG 8-4.

Banker seemed excited about having added his own personal theme song to his bio on the Teams page. Maybe his upbeat mood carried over into his play, because Grim Reapers also won their other game, cleaning up TRIBG 7-2.
