Superbarney slips to sixth

SuperMario and Barney have had better outings than they did in Round 6. On the Nedlands foreshore they copped two 1-7 losses, going down first to Cannonbra (Cannonball without Brad) and then to Pineapple Express.

BP and RE continued to go low-key with their fetching team shirts, each opting to cover the purple T-shirt with something less visible and the strategy seemed to work, because they also won their other game, defeating Go Dig Buzz (Buzz flying solo) 8-1.

President Buzz also claimed to be wearing purple underwear, but declined to prove it when Stella invited him to do so. Buzz said something about the Dockers, a sense of commitment and his Reg Grundies, but it can be difficult to hear him when he starts muttering about the Dockers. Reg said that he thought Buzz had said that real Freo supporters wear their Dockers undies every day. Serge said that he was not sure anybody should wear the same undies every day, especially a Dockers supporter. SuperMario then changed the subject with a question about whether lamingtons are better than macaroons and all agreed that, although underwear is important, this was a smooth move in the circumstances.

Purple undies or not, Brad won one game of three on the day, losing 4-8 to Bank Tellers but winning 8-5 over an otherwise buoyant Cannonbra.

Cannonball had a good day, winning two from three, narrowly eclipsing Mother Reg, 7-6, in Cannonbra’s other game.

Storm Surge continues to look for a rabbit in its 2019 hat. The high point of the Storm Surge season so far was beating Pineapple Express 9-0 in the season opener. Since then, Stormboy and Serge have won only two games, one in Round 2 and one in Round 4. Round 6 brought them no joy, as they lost 2-7 to Mother Reg and 5-7 to Bank Tellers.

With two home-and-away rounds to go, Mother Reg sits in top spot ahead of Bank Tellers and Cannonbra.
