Asked whether the celebrations might be premature after only one round and only 11% of the team’s scheduled home-and-away games, Mochu was resolute. “The gulf between Mobank and the rest of the teams is massive,” he crowed. “We can only get better. You’ll see.”

Mobank won both its games, accounting for Resurgence 7-2 and Dog’s Balls 7-0, but all other teams had a day of mixed fortunes.

Resurgence won only one of its two other games, beating the Stellar Diggers 7-3, but losing 4-8 to Mario’s Gonads.

Dog’s Balls won their other game, cleaning up Big Brad Pineapples, 7-4.

Although the Stellar Diggers had that loss to Resurgence, they scraped home, 8-6, in a sometimes spiteful encounter with BBP.

Mario’s Gonads lost their other game, 4-7, to Reg Barney. The other result for Reg Barney was a nail-biting loss to BBP, 6-7.
