Round 4 sees four changes to ladder positions

SuperMario shivers in shorts on his way to a 4-7 loss to Fuchu at Bardon Park on 29 May 2022

It seems that there was a lesson about preparation to be learned from round 4. The round was played in chilly and windy conditions by the river at Bardon Park in Maylands. All players except two had the good sense to wear long pants.

Singletons SuperMario and Barney wore shorts. Each of them played two games on the day, and lost both. Nobody else lost two games.

SuperMario’s first game was against Fuchu (Brad playing solo, as Gonad and Stella were rostered off) and SuperMario lost 4-7.

In his other game, S&M lost 4-7 to Cairo (Handy Andy II and Cannonball without Digger). The two losses saw SuperMario plummet from third place to sixth on the ladder.

Fuchu had a good day, as Brad Solo also won their other game, taking down ARSE 8-2. ARSE comprised SNHDT and Buzz without RE, as RE was convalescing after his personality transplant.

Although RE was actually there, he deemed himself unable to play and just moped around making snide remarks and taking photos.

Cairo also had two glorious victories, the other being a 7-3 win over Urbane Gorillas (Banker on his patma as Serge was having satnav problems again).

The Urbane Gorillas were given the benefit of the season’s only forfeit so far, as Reg was on stress leave. Although that was a 7-0 “win”, it was not enough to see them dislodge Reg from his perch atop the ladder.

ARSE’s other game saw it defeat a cold and out-of-sorts Barney, 7-1. With that win, ARSE doubled its number of wins for the season.

Motherchucker gave Barney a further dose of ignominy, prevailing 7-4. Despite Mochu winning his only game of the day, he still managed to slip out of the top four.
