Motherchucker and Reg, the singletons who played in last year’s grand final, are on top of the ladder again after round 1, albeit in a different order.
Motherchucker’s only game for the day was Mochu v Fuchu. Although Fuchu is a team of three, the team on the day comprised Brad, flying solo. It was subsequently revealed that Gonad was attending a “gala” for The Gonad Institute and Stella was unable to find the locus bocci. Whatevs. Mochu prevailed 7-1, and do you think he was pleased?
Fuchu had a happier result in its other game, a 7-3 victory over Urbane Gorillas. In fact, Serge was the only Gorilla present, and he explained that it was Banker’s turn to be rostered off.
Like Brad, Serge had a day of mixed fortunes, and he gazumped the newly minted singleton SuperMario, 7-2.
On the subject of mixed fortunes, S&M fared better against Australian Research and Space Exploration (RE and Buzz Lightbeer sans SNHDT), prevailing 7-5.
Although there were four “teams” playing on the day, ARSE was the only team to field more than one player. Even though RE wore his fine new ARSE shirt, he and Buzz were no match for Reg, who won their encounter 7-1.
Reg also came out on top in his other game, prevailing 8-3 against the league’s other new singleton, Barney.
Maybe the name change from “BP” to “HRH Prince Andrew II” had some adverse effect on the game. Maybe Handy Andy is still suffering the lingering effects of grasping the Asti. Either way, the prince had to play on his patma in Cairo’s only game (as Digger and Cannonball were at the Australasian Embroidery Convention) and Barney beat him 7-4.
