Daylight saving in Claremont

President Buzz Lightbeer enjoys the 2pm start in Claremont

Round seven, played in glorious sunshine in Claremont, began at 2pm, an hour earlier than usual, as a result of a bold one-off daylight saving initiative by President Buzz Lightbeer.

Not fazed by the earlier start, Mother Reg cemented its minor premier status with a 7-4 win over Storm Surge and a 7-1 win over Go Dig Buzz.

Storm Surge’s other game saw it prevail 7-3 over Bank Tellers, who also suffered a 3-7 loss to SuperBarney.

Superbarney’s other game saw them suffer a 4-7 loss Cannonbra. Despite that good result for Cannonbra, it then handed a 0-7 forfeit to Pineapple Express. It was the second time this season that a team has won a game and forfeited a game on the same day (Bank Tellers having managed it in Round 1).

Pineapple Express’s other game was a hard-fought tussle and it managed to fight back from 1-6 down to beat Go Dig Buzz 8-6

As to whether he considered the daylight saving trial a success, Buzz was his usual evasive self. When asked at the end of play whether he foresaw future events starting at 2pm, Buzz replied, “Is that the time? Sorry, I think that’s my phone. If you call my office, I’ll make sure that someone gets back to you.”
