Big Guns win 2017 title

The Big Guns take home the trophy in 2017

Playing from third position after the home-and-away season, the Big Guns (RE on his own as Stella was busy vacuuming his car) blitzed the field at Mrs Herbert’s Park to take the Grand BOCCE trophy for 2017.

The Pot Shots also defied the ladder placings, finishing fourth in the home-and-away season, but managing to seize the Asti after losing 6:8 to the last-placed Heaven’s Door, and following that up with a convincing 0:7 drubbing at the hands of the fifth-placed Nomads.

The Drones started the finals in sixth place, so their first task, avoiding the Asti, was achieved in the second game when they beat the Nomads, 7:2, thereby forcing the Nomads into the aforementioned Asti play-off. In the fourth game, however, they were no match for Heaven’s Door, losing 4:7, which meant that HD had weaselled its way from seventh place to the championship round.

The first game of the championship round saw minor premiers the Circus demolish the second-placed Shibumi 7:1.

The Big Guns then opened their account with an 8:2 defeat of Heaven’s Door.

Despite Reg wearing his thongs, it was not a great day for Shibumi, which lost its second game (the preliminary final), and it’s last chance for glory, 4:7, to the Big Guns.

The grand final saw RE take the Circus back to the edge of the cliff time and again, but the strategy worked, the Big Guns taking the title 8:2.
